DEL NORTE COUNTY HARVEST BOX

Fresh Produce, Grown in Our Community

Harvest Box is a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program serving the Del Norte community. Del Norte and Tribal Lands Community Food Council (DNATL CFC) works with local and regional farmers to source and distribute seasonal produce. Harvest Box customers receive 4-6 items of produce (fruits and veggies) in each box, available for pickup or delivery twice a month. The program will run from July through November. Harvest Box aims to improve food access in our community, while supporting our local farmers and food businesses.

What’s in a Harvest Box?

Each Harvest Box is different! Our team works with local farmers to put together each box based on what’s in-season. One box will include 4-6 items, mostly veggies. We’ll send out newsletters letting you know what to expect in your box before it arrives. Last year’s boxes featured items like leafy greens, carrots, tomatoes, peppers, apples, snap peas, beets, microgreens, and much more!

What’s the difference between the Standard Harvest Box and Harvest Box Plus?

The Plus Box will include the same items as the Standard Harvest Box, but double the quantity. Standard boxes should feed 1-2 people, while Plus Boxes are better suited for families (feeds 3-4 people).

Do you accept SNAP/EBT?

We are awaiting final approval to accept SNAP/EBT benefits for our Harvest Box program, but cannot currently accept EBT. While we wait for approval, feel free to email Molly or fill out our interest form here, and we will be sure to notify you as soon as we’re approved.

Once approved to accept EBT, the Food Council will offer a 50% EBT Match. All EBT customers will receive a full-size Harvest Box for $12.50 (we match the rest of the cost). We apologize that we are not currently able to accept EBT benefits.

We are hoping to be approved within the next few weeks. Please reach out to Molly (molly@dnatlfoodcouncil.org, 802 458 5423) with any questions.

Do I need to place an order for every box?

No! Once you’re signed up, you will automatically receive your box. If you want to make changes such as skipping, pausing, or canceling your box, or want to add an extra item to your box, you’ll have to log in and make your changes during our ordering window.

Can I skip, pause, or cancel my Harvest Box?

We understand life gets busy, so you have the flexibility to skip any week when you need to. Just make sure to do so by midnight the Wednesday before cutoff (the week prior to delivery!).

If you're heading on vacation, we recommend setting an account hold, which you can do any time from your account dashboard.

How can I include extra items like beef and coffee in my subscription?

When you sign up, you’ll have an option to select “add-ons,” which will be included with each of your boxes. You can log in to make changes (add additional add-ons, cancel or skip your add-ons) during the ordering period.

Why is there an ordering window?

The ordering window gives you the chance to skip weeks if you’re on vacation, or change your add-on items. We need to know in advance how many boxes we’re packing, so we can order the right amount of produce.

When will I be charged?

If you sign up with a credit card or bank account, you will be charged for your first box when you sign up. For following weeks, the cost of each box will be charged after the ordering window closes, the week before you receive your box.

If I just signed up, when will I get my first box?

We’re packing boxes every other week. Sign up by Wednesday during the ordering period to receive your first box the following week. If you sign up after the ordering window closes, we’ll pack your first box for the next cycle.

What do I do if I want to update, skip, or cancel my box, but I’m confused about how to do it?

You can call or email Molly directly for help updating your order (molly@dnatlfoodcouncil.org, 802 458 5423). You can also use the “chat” function on Farmhand to ask a question and we’ll get back to you.

What is Farmhand?

Farmhand is the software we’re using to coordinate our Harvest Box signup. You will receive your subscription confirmation, receipt, and pickup/delivery reminders through Farmhand. They can also help navigate tech issues, if you’re having a hard time navigating the signup and ordering process.
